Playing-Based Online Piano Lessons for Children Ages 5-7

PLAY! Piano loves ‘Play a Story’ - a beautiful, age-appropriate introduction to playing.

What would the music sound like if it was the wind in the forest or a shell tossed around the ocean?

Using the pure imagination of children aged 5 to 7, Play a Story teaches students to play freely and with feeling.

Traveling through a storybook world, students learn to listen, feel, and literally ‘play the story’ across the whole piano while it is being read to them.

Since creativity and improvisation are often ignored in traditional piano lessons, this is a huge and wonderful opportunity for children to embrace music from the perfectly magical place that is their true self-expression: the authentic art of being themselves!

Enjoy watching your child experience the following benefits of this dynamic & engaging program that:

  • Nourishes the brain

  • Fosters creativity

  • Helps your child to see themselves as musicians at a young age

  • Introduces a range of foundational musical concepts

  • Encourages self-expression

  • Builds confidence

  • Quite simply, for the vast majority of students, if they start this week, they’ll be playing great-sounding songs by next week. Many, many of our students who start today, will be playing songs by tomorrow. And for a lot of our students, they’re playing complete songs, with both hands, the very same day that they start.

  • Here’s what happens: Your child will begin playing music right away — within the first 5 minutes. Yes, 5 minutes! They’ll start with simple but beautiful improvisations over a gorgeous, professionally-produced soundtrack that they’ll play right from their computer, tablet or smartphone. And immediately thereafter they’ll begin building a repertoire of songs. It's immediate! Of course, their results are even better if they practice regularly for a small amount of time. Having taught millions of Simply Music lessons over the last 2+ decades, we’ve found that the ideal practice routine is about 15-20 minutes daily, 4-5 days per week. Naturally, and with your support, if they’re able to practice more often, then we guarantee even more fantastic results!

  • Your child doesn't need to have any attention on, nor even any interest in reading music. As is the case with all of Simply Music's programs, our Music & Creativity program temporarily delays music-reading and draws on your child's natural and existing aural, visual and kinesthetic skills. Our unique and revolutionary approach gives them immediate access to their innate musicianship.

Our ‘play first, read later’ approach is just like learning a native language – ‘talk first, read and spell later’. They’ll build a huge repertoire of great-sounding songs learned through our natural ‘playing-based’ approach of seeing music in terms of shapes and patterns.

Remember, the brain is a pattern-seeking device, and as such, the Simply Music approach is perfectly aligned with the way that the brain loves to learn.

  • It's unlike any other piano program available. We start with playing — not with reading. No arduous scales and exercises. No tedious drills and theory. Your child will learn to play by being immersed in the experience of playing and making real music. Exactly like how they learned to talk! Right from the start they’ll be playing great-sounding songs that they’re excited about and that you'll love listening to.

With Simply Music’s playing-based approach, students play immediately — with both hands. There is an experience of success with each new piece a student plays. The pieces are fun, yet sound rich and mature. When friends and family hear your child play, they won't believe what your child has achieved in such a short amount of time. The positive feedback, combined with your child’s experience of success as well as your support, will be powerful in keeping them engaged in lessons.

  • Simply Music has an overarching goal for every student: That they will have music as a lifelong companion. Learning to play any instrument, or to be successful in any endeavor, requires a long-term relationship. As a parent, it is important to recognize that long-term relationships have peaks, valleys, and plateaus that last for any length of time and are constantly changing. Recognizing that will help you to stand for your child and their commitment to playing the piano and to understand that there is nothing wrong when your child hits a valley or plateau — it's all part of the journey.

  • Piano lessons have one of the highest failure rates of any taught subject. The way teachers have traditionally approached piano lessons has left a vast number of students feeling as though piano is only for those who have a special talent or ability, or who work very hard for a very long time before achieving any ‘real’ success. Traditional approaches have made it both astonishingly easy and, in fact, quite likely, for the majority of students to get discouraged and give up.

However, Simply Music's breakthrough approach is completely different. We believe that absolutely everyone is deeply, naturally, and profoundly musical. Playing the piano doesn't require any special talent. It's not just for some people. It’s not hard to learn and it doesn’t take a long time. It's for all people, including your child…(and even you!). We draw on your child’s existing aural, visual and kinesthetic skills and get them playing immediately by taking advantage of the brain's inherent design that looks for patterns and sequences.

Even if your child played for years and then quit, Simply Music will give them a fresh approach and immediate success. Your child will be surprised — maybe even shocked, by what they can do and what they can play by implementing a new way of learning.

Simply Music Online Piano Lessons for Adults

Why do adult students love the Simply Music Method and PLAY! Piano Studios so much?

If you

  • Always had a dream of playing piano

  • Played as a child but stopped short of making the music you really hoped to play

  • Tried traditional lessons but felt like it was not getting you to really playing

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone! Many adults had a less-than-ideal experience with piano lessons but you’ll be happy to know that THESE are not your typical piano lessons.

  • Quite simply (as is the case for the vast majority of our students), if you start this week, you’ll be playing great-sounding songs by next week. Many, many of our students who start today, will be playing songs by tomorrow. And for a lot of our students, you included, it’s absolutely likely that you’ll be playing complete songs, with both hands, the very same day that you start.

  • Here’s what happens: You begin playing music right away – within the first 5 minutes. Yes, 5 minutes! You’ll start with simple but beautiful improvisations over a gorgeous, professionally-produced soundtrack that you’ll play right from your computer, tablet or smartphone. • You don't need to have any attention on, nor even any interest in reading music. In fact, the traditional approach, where students are required to first learn how to read music as a means of learning to play, is one of the main reasons why piano lessons have such a disastrous failure rate. The traditional ‘read first, play later’ approach would be equivalent to every parent insisting that their child first learn how to read and spell as a means of learning how to talk. Preposterous!

Simply Music temporarily delays music-reading and draws on your natural and existing aural, visual, and kinesthetic skills. Our ‘play first, read later’ approach is just like learning a native language — ‘talk first, read and spell later’. Our unique and revolutionary way of teaching gives you immediate access to your innate musicianship. • Even if you know how to read music, the Simply Music program is going to have a real impact on your playing. Our program temporarily delays reading and draws on your existing aural, visual, and kinesthetic skills to give you immediate access to your innate musicianship.

You'll develop a huge repertoire of songs learned through our completely natural approach of seeing music in terms of shapes, sentences, patterns, chords, and chord progressions.

When you play without any reliance on written music, it is an entirely different experience. Imagine not needing any music – being able to play anywhere, anytime – being free to just sit down, maybe close your eyes and let the music take you away.

Transcend the barriers of traditional methods and set yourself free!

  • Absolutely! Making music grows a stronger brain!

Breakthroughs in neuroscience show that playing piano increases communication between left and right hemispheres, develops and strengthens neural pathways, improves memory, motor and verbal functions, and decreases depression, fatigue, and anxiety.
